Nervous System Regulation in Community: How It Brings You Back to Yourself
Nervous system regulation in community is essential for emotional and creative well-being. What’s been bringing you JOY lately? For me, it was winning a ticket to the Step Forward Summit for International Women’s Day, and what unfolded there reminded me just how powerful community healing can be.
From Social Anxiety to Connection
I’m not going to sugarcoat it. It has been a strange and tender time.
I have been moving through a big personal completion, mostly on my own, and it has brought up a lot of psychological tension. With everything happening in the world, the idea of going to an event felt overwhelming. I almost didn’t go.
Social anxiety had me on the verge of turning around before I even walked in.
But I leaned into my Journal to JOY practice, a tool that has been anchoring me lately, and followed through anyway. That decision changed everything.
What Happens When We Stop Doing It Alone
The moment I sat in that room with other women, I felt it:
My body softened
My breath deepened
My nervous system began to settle
This is what is known as co-regulation, a key part of nervous system regulation in community. Our nervous systems are not designed to regulate in isolation. We regulate through connection, especially in spaces where we feel safe, seen, and supported.
In that space, surrounded by grounded and open-hearted women, I came back home to myself.
Why Nervous System Regulation Matters
Many of us are living in a constant state of low-level stress, operating in survival mode without realizing it.
When this happens:
Creativity becomes blocked
Intuition feels distant
The ability to think clearly is reduced
Science shows that when we are dysregulated, our brain shifts into protection mode rather than expansion.
We cannot access our full power from survival mode. That is why learning nervous system regulation in community is so important.
The Power of Co-Regulation vs Self-Regulation
While self-regulation practices like journaling, breathwork, and mindfulness are helpful, they are only part of the picture.
Co-regulation accelerates healing.
When you are around people who feel safe in their bodies, your nervous system responds, mirroring that sense of safety. Over time, this helps you:
Feel more grounded in yourself
Build emotional resilience
Access deeper levels of creativity and intuition
This is why women’s circles, group healing spaces, and conscious communities can be transformative for nervous system regulation.
A Reminder: You Are Not Meant to Do This Alone
This experience reminded me why I created The Goddxx Path.
Yes, personal growth can happen in solitude. But true expansion happens in connection.
When we gather with others committed to their growth, something powerful emerges:
✨ We co-regulate
✨ We feel seen and supported
✨ We expand faster and with more ease
Most importantly, we remember who we truly are.
Journal Prompts for Nervous System Healing
As we move toward the New Moon, try these journaling prompts to support your own nervous system regulation in community:
✨ Where am I currently dysregulated or operating from survival mode?
✨ Who are the people that help me feel safe and grounded?
✨ Where have I been isolating instead of reaching out for support?
✨ What beliefs or stories am I ready to release?
✨ What is my inner wisdom guiding me toward right now?
Take your time. Reflect honestly.
Final Thoughts: Healing Happens in Safe Spaces
Healing does not just happen within us. It happens between us, in safe spaces, shared energy, and authentic connection.
If you have been trying to do everything alone, let this be your invitation to soften. Reach out. Connect. Allow yourself to be supported.
Sometimes, the very thing your nervous system needs is simply to be in the presence of others who feel like home.
